On Vedic Recitations

Rik Veda contains the wholeness of all the others (even though some verses are the same or similar and some different) and then each is some different flavor of that wholeness … Each of the Purusha Sukta verses for example can contain some of the same verses but recited with different meters or some differences. Sama Veda has a quality of flowing which you can hear, for example…. (and related to the flow of soma as well).

How to listen to the Vedic recitations

  • In October, 1980 Maharishi Mahesh Yogi commented on listening to Vedic recitations: “Sit comfortably, completely easy and comfortable. Don’t mind anything. Just in that simplest form of awareness, come what may… Innocently allow our awareness to float in the sounds.”
  • Listen easily, comfortably, with eyes closed. No straining trying to follow or understand the recitation.
  • Listening while driving in the car is not advised.
